Wether it is as a singer, a songwriter or an actor, Joey McIntyre, the youngest member of the group, found his way through the Entertainement business. Today, at 35, married for a few years and father of a young little boy born in november 2007 named Griffin Thomas, Joey is no longer the little “Joey Joe” from back then. He has grown up into a beautiful man.

For this first issue of the Fanzine, I got interested in knowing what were the reasons Joe became some fans’ favorite and why he still is today. Fans from around the world agreed to write about their experience as Joe fans.

“I have an older brother who loves music and in 1988, when the album “Hangin’ Tough” was at the top, he bought it. He was so excited about it. I was 16 at the time and when I go the tape, the first one i saw on the insert was Joe. He was such a cute young boy.

We put on the tape to listen to it. My brother told me Joe was the leading singer on “Please don’t go girl” and I started to really like him and to look for every magazines and news papers that he was in, but couldn’t find anything in the city i lived in back then (Navojoa Sonora), so i cherished my tape and the insert dearly as it was sacred.

As the months went by, i managed to start off a scrapbook of every small pieces from Bop magazines issues and posters i could get my hands on. At the time, my city only got one copy of the magazine every month and sometimes another fan would get her hands on it before i could and that would make me sad. I was so in love with Joe’s deep baby blue eyes.

When the album “Step by Step” came out, i went crazy watching the home video over and over and putting it on “Pause” all the time. I was the only fan in my town, as i found out the other fan who bought the only copy of Bop that came to my city bought it for articles on the tv show “Saved by the bell”.

My love for the band has never changed, despite all the crazy rumors about them. I never moved on to another group or idol. The New kids were always my heart and soul. Joe was my favorite because he seemed to me like the sweetest boy on earth.

I come from a very poor family and I had to work hard to save up my money to buy “Face the music” when it came out and when the group splitted up, it was a but hard for me to follow everyone’s solo or movie carreers financially, so I only followed Joe’s as he was my favorite.”

"When I saw Joe for the first time it was in the video for Please Don't Go Girl. I used to listen to the song on the radio and loved it. But when I saw the video and five good looking guys in it... i went insane! Joe's blue eyes bewitched me. I was totally enchanted by that young guy. I couldn't take him off my mind. I became a dedicated fan and never did they get off my head and mind. And I never stopped dreaming of them! Joe was so perfect for me. Even not being perfect, I could find in him the man of my dreams! He is so sweet and charming! So intelligent and funny! I love him from the bottom of my heart and I want to see him happy! And for me it's great to say I'm happy to see him married and a proud father. Because people used to be worried about me. They thought that if Joe ever got married I would get depressed or someting like that. I couldn't imagine when I was younger that Joe could get married, but when I got older, I realized that he needs to be happy with a nice woman. I could get over it. I could be strong! And myself... well, I'm still single. I spent years of my life thinking only of Joe and there wasn't any space for anyone else in my life. Today I'm still looking for the right man for me and I hope he can be as good as Joe is.
Joe is so special in my life, he is part of my life and will always be! He taught me how to dream and how to believe in my dreams and if I'm looking for a bettter life it's because I have a deal with myself to be strong and get my goal that is to meet the NKOTB. It will be great to get near them. All the happiness he gave me, his smiles, his looks, his jokes, his talents, his energy, his good vibrations, everything from him makes me happy! I was blessed with Joe in my life."

“Let me start by saying what is not attractive about Joe, NOTHING !. The man is just perfect. I first heard about the New Kids when I was 11 years of age. My eyes caught Joey right away. I immediatly thought “Is he real ? He is so adorable”. It wasn’t just because he had blue eyes (we have a lot of that here), but the way he acted, so natural and funny, he cracked me up and he still does. Until now, he is still my favorite New Kid. He is funny and so down to earth. I saw him in concert back in 1991 in Rotterdam and he was standing like 3 inches from me. I totally fell in love with him. The way he moves, he talks and acts, you just gotta love the man.

18 years later, I am married to a wonderful man (no kids yet), but I’m still sooo in love with Joe. That man has got it. Whatever that may be ... LOVE YOU JOE. FOREVER !”

“The first time I heard the New kids it was on the radio. “Please don’t go girl” was playing. I was 13 years old and immediatly fell crazy in love with Joe’s voice and when I first saw his baby face, i melted. This is how and why he became my fave. His voice still gives me goosebumps today.”

“I’ve been a Joey fan ever since I was introduced to the New kids, which means early 90’s (i was too young before that). I can’t really remember why I felt for him. The minute I saw their video “Please don’t go girl”, I knew he would be my favorite. What attracted me to him ? His baby blue eyes, his smile, his voice, his sense of humor. I love that in a man. I find that Joey has gotten even more handsome as he grew up, though I always thought he was cute. I envy his wife J “

”It all began many moons ago - 1989 to be exact. I was living in the UK and one night my friends and I went to a teen nightclub. They played Hangin' Tough and from that point I was hooked on the band. By mid 1990 I had moved back to Canada and I was completely infatuated with the New Kids. I bought any magazine I could get my hands on with them in it and recorded anything on TV that had a chance of them being on. I spent the entire summer wanting to know anything I could about them.

It was during that summer that I really started liking Joe. He was the closest to me in age and really came off as having a super sense of humor which, for me , is one of the most attractive qualities a guy can possess. It would also be stupid of me to deny that the guy was hot. Great hair and the baby blues!!

In fall of 1990 (Halloween I think) the New Kids came to Calgary. I got seats 1st row on the balcony and it was such a great time. The way they played to the crowd was phenomenal and I still remember the show like it was yesterday. That was my first and last New Kids concert.

I was still enthralled with them right up until the split after Face the Music came out. At that point I moved on, got married etc. but I was always a big fan and never denied it. My guy friends even put on a LipSync of "The Right Stuff" for me at my wedding!! I am also proud to say that I really enjoyed keeping up with Joe's solo ventures. Besides his solo music projects, I absloutely could not get enough of the guy on Boston Public. It is really a credit to him that he can be so diversified in his talents!

I really cannot wait until this fall. I will be seeing them for the first time in 18 years in Montreal and then hope to catch them again once they come out West!”

“I instantly became a joe fan back when I was 10 years old and I first heard Please Don't Go Girl on the radio. His voice just captivated me....it was so sweet! I had to find out more about "NKOTB" and when I first seen them, it was "little joe" who I developed my first crush on. What attracted me to him besides his singing talent was his stunning blue eyes and adorable curls. I love his passion for entertaining and his charisma. I also find him to be hilarious...he has an amazing and fun sense of humour! I also think I liked him because I could relate to him in terms of age. Although he was still much older than me, he looked younger and the other guys just seemed so much older in my eyes. My bedroom walls were plastered with his photos and I had everything nkotb/joe related. I remember getting my joey doll for christmas and I still have it! As I got older I still adored Joe and when nkotb parted ways it was definitely heartbreaking. I have never stopped being a joe/nkotb fan and have been one for 19 years (soon going on 20)! So of course I was estatic when he returned as a solo artist and supported his career as a singer/actor. I have all his cd's and still love his voice as it matured. When I was a little girl all I could dream about was meeting joe. Well my dream did come true, even if it took 14 years!!! Well worth the wait. I met him at a taping of the Mike Bullard show in Toronto and he was nice enough to autograph the 2 cd's he had out at that time. I am so glad nkotb is back and looking forward to making new memories. I recently went to the Kiss 108 concert in Boston and it was amazing. I am eagarly awaiting to attend their reunion concert in Toronto and have 5star VIP for the New Jersey one. Needless to say....I am sooooooooooooooo EXCITED about meeting Joe again. All I want now is a photo with him. I seen him at a taping of Much on Demand and came very close to getting a picture with him during the commerical break, but the host wouldn't allow it. So having a photo would be great and a hug if that isn't too much to ask! =)”

If I remember well, it was my cousin whom introduced me to the group. She was a lot older than I was. I think she was 16 back then and I was only 9. I had gone to her place and she had me watch some of the New Kids videos and showed me all the magazines she had bought with tons of posters of the guys. I totally fell for Joe’s eyes. He was clearly my favorite one. After that, i became a fan myself and i started bringing all the magazines I bought to school to show my friends. They were all lusting over Jordan and I couldn’t understand it. For me, Joe was the most beautiful one J “

Hi my name is Kellie a.k.a aussieanegl08,Im 34 yrs old and Im from Sydney,Australia.I have been a Joey Mcintyre fan since I first seen "The Right Stuff" on tv in 1989.I remember I was 14 yrs old, sitting at my best friends house waiting to go out shopping (as teenagers do),while I was waiting, watching tv,the song came on,I was in total awe of these 5 boys dancing and singing this catchy song,I remember noticing the "Little One",he was the cutest guy and had a beautiful smile.
I will never forget that day,as I ran all the way home to tell my mum.The following weekend,I discovered that this group was known as "New Kids On The Block"I waited patiently every week for the music shows to come on,just so i could get a glimpse of the "Little Cute Guy".

Time went by and "I'll Be Loving You Forever" was released here in Australia,I rushed out and brought it on record.I even put the record sleeve on my wall,so i could look at the Cute Guy,I now knew as Joey Mcintyre every day and night.
When I was at this stage in my life,I had my very first boyfriend,we didnt last long (teenagers rarely do),my mum pointed out to me that my first bf looked exactly like "Joey Joe" I was totally gutted, after all it was me that "dumped him".

Many years went by,more songs and new albums were to come from NKOTB,in 1994,NKOTB split up and I was totally devastated. In 1999,I was watching a music show and along comes the host to announce a new song by Joey Mcintyre,it was called "Stay The Same".Joe was even at a local shopping centre signing copies of the single, again I was gutted as I was 7 months pregnant with my 4th little girl and couldnt make the trip.
That was the last I heard of "Joey Mcintyre" as we didnt get much coverage here in Australia,Thanks to the internet thou I could follow his career as much as possible
Fast forward to 2008,I cant contain my excitement,NKOTB are back and the legion of fans around the world untie once again.

Funnily enough, the daughter I was pregnant with in 1999,today in 2008 if you ask her which is her fav new kid.....her answer will be "JOE"

What was it that i found so fascinating about "Joe" I really cant explain, all i know is what did "it" for me.................

The blue eyes, the curly hair, the amazing voice and that beautiful smile"
